The problem

A rate without a benchmark is just a digit.

PROBLEM 01
A raw number means nothing

5% sounds great — until you learn the median for that size is 2.4%, or 0.8%. Without a benchmark, the rate tells you nothing.

PROBLEM 02
Spreadsheet math is fiddly

Average likes and comments across posts, divide by followers, multiply by 100 — by hand it's tedious to repeat and easy to get wrong.

PROBLEM 03
Follower count fools everyone

A 240K account can have fewer real fans than a 30K one. Reach is rented; engagement is the part that's actually owned.

The solution

Type the numbers — or a handle. Get the verdict.

igtrackr runs the standard ER formula instantly, then matches it to the median for that exact follower bracket — and hands you a plain-English verdict, not just a digit.

Every run returns
  • Engagement rate, computed instantly
  • The median for that follower size
  • An above / on / below verdict
  • A paste-ready line for your deck

The size benchmark changed how I pitch. “Above median for my bracket” lands far better than a raw percentage.

FAQ

The engagement-rate questions everyone asks.

One formula, a few conventions. Here's exactly how igtrackr computes it.

How is engagement rate calculated?+

We use (average likes + average comments) ÷ followers × 100 — per-post ER on followers, the most widely quoted standard.

What's a good engagement rate?+

It depends on size. Nano accounts (<10K) often see 4%+, while accounts over 1M average closer to 0.8%. We benchmark you against your bracket.

Can I use it without my own numbers?+

Yes — paste any public handle and igtrackr pulls recent average likes and comments automatically, then runs the same math.

Does it count saves and shares?+

The free calculator uses likes + comments (public signals). Reach- and interaction-based ER, including saves, is on the Pro report.
